Blogpost 4 Impulse stealing of the kleptomaniac's

A lot of things that people can actually do, but sometimes in our mysterious life we don't know where the right path is.The desire is what makes us feel happy or we can say that help us relaxed. For other people they live because of their dreams, they became strong because of their love once. There is a time that we can say that there's no hope because of the biggest problem that we have,sometimes we say to our selves may be if I did not do that, I became this and that.But how can we change that regrets if we still don't know who we are?.There is a famous quote of Confucius that" do not do an to others what others do not do an to you" This somehow gives me an idea to not judge people like the word "sociopath" or the "psychopath" define as the person who is not acceptable by the society. In my own experience I encountered those people who are not acceptable by society. In my own experience I saw a atheistic child who is being bully because of his disease.Despite of his disease he is a talented person who want to be a model someday but other people are trying to discriminate him.For him that is the hardest problem that he had, being unacceptable to the society and being discriminated by others.

In this article that I want to share with you guys,which  can give an additional information about this topic, the article entitled “Kleptomania- A Compulsion To Steal”.By M. Williams, Ph.D.,from the site of brainphysics.com.This article talks about the behaviors of the kleptomania they impulse stealing,the treatment,essential features and the cause of it.First the behavior of kleptomaniac since I said to the third article that kleptomaniac occurs in a women rather than a men. This kind of observation is not actually proven there are also evidence that support to this statement.Like what I said in my other blogpost that kleptomaniac steal what they want not what they need.The uncontrollable stealing of kleptomaniac that from being tempted to that object leads to steal item.And in additional kleptomaniac does not steal if there is a bigger possibility that they may caught.Second is treatment some observation of the other physician that these may be a genetics that some of their patients who suffer from this kind of illness,their parents or relatives also suffering from it.But that is not the only case,there is also a treat that shows of the recent researcher’s the benefits of “cognitive-behavioral therapy”.This therapy are use to help an individual’s to inform the individuals of the bad effect of their illness.A stress stabilizer that help kleptomania to decrease they stress.The stress of kleptomaniac is came after they steal an item because of the feeling of guilt and remorse.The stress stabilizer that I’am talking about is the serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).Third is the essential features of kleptomania,from the article there are three and I’am doing my best to explain to you guys.

1.   Their uncontrollable stealing of an object that is not needed

       Like what I said earlier that they steal what they want not what they need that is why they are more like different from the real thief.

2.   The higher tension that leads them to be tempted on the object

      This is the reason why they still can’t resist their intense stealing of objects.

3.   Their strong desire to steal

      This also a reason why they commit crimes

Lastly the cause of kleptomania,this gives some additional thoughts and information why most of the kleptomania is a women.In the discussion of the kleptomania in 19^th and early 20^th century that became part of their debate that kleptomania has a relationship with the insanity of the reproductive system of a female called “hysteria”, that is said to be the cause of the uterus.But the scientific community cannot prove that this is actually the cause.According to Freudian psychoanalytic theory that “attributed hysterical symptoms to the unconscious mind's attempt to protect the patient from psychic stress”.Somehow I can say that it is really the cause because of the word “stress” that also experience by the kleptomaniac’s.This theory might actually the right thing for me because in this theory it helps people to relieve their stress and also in their conscious of stealing objects.This thing will not only help the store’s retailer’s but also those youth is the hope of our country.

Also I want to share with you the article i read entitled "BeenCaught Stealing: A Drug That Fights Kleptomania".By MICHAEL HAEDERLE,from the site of the psmag.com.This article talk’s about the treatment that they use in kleptomania like naltrexone that is usually treatment for alcoholism and heroin addiction.There are also evidence treatment help this illness to their dopamine in their brain.The study found out that it’s the most common problem that diagnose with this illness. Stephen Correia and Thea Brennan-Krohn discovered something when they test the 10 women with their “diffusion tensor imaging”, form by the magnetic resonance in the brain.They found out that the tissue in the brain of the women in the white matter tracts is less dense to the inferior frontal lobe.This explain why most women diagnose with this illness are easily tempted to an object or they have a low percent of decision making.According to Jon Grant says that “They didn’t have enough neural pathways to keep sending an inhibitory message to the brain,” This proves to what Freudenrich said and for that matter I agree that kleptomania commonly occurs in the woman.But I want to find more information about this issues because it is not yet proven. 

Blogpost 3: Understanding Kleptomaniac

Every day in our lives we experience different problems in our family,in our friends,girlfriends or in our assignments in school that we did not finish at home because we didn't listen to our professors. Other students, like me have also a problem usually in English.Others are trying to fight their problems but others are not, they want to live where they think they are comfortable.There is a TV show that I watch and there's a girl auditioning.The judges ask her do you have a band then she answer "yes mam" and the judge miss Aiai Delas alas said ,why are you here instead of singing with your band .Then the lady answered it, "I want to go out in my comfortable spot to prove myself  that I 'am strong not the fact that I don't need them but the reason to achieve my dreams to be a great singer in our industry.On her inspirational speech even the people on that place are crying,When I heard that I realize that my parents are not always there to guide me when I'm wrong,I should be strong and be independent.I learn lots of things when I get here in Manila,I learn to wash my clothes,my socks and even to arrange my things that I do not usually do when I'm in our house in Quezon.Those things help me not only in physical but also in my moral attitude, I became responsible for all the things that I did.For all the problems there is a solution the only question is how far you can handle it.Since every problems have roots and we have a different

There is an article that I want to share with you guys,this article entitled “Is Linsay Lohan a Klepto?”,by C.J. Arabia, from the site of smosh.com. Linsay Lohan is a well known model and actress in the L.A.,but in this controversies that she stall many stuff in different persons. In fact she stall a Rolex watch from her friend despite of her fame and being rich many people are asking, why is she stealing object from other? May be the great thing to do for her stealing is to go into jail. Some people suggest that if Linsay go into jail there is a possibility that she may stole items from the prisoner.In contrast of the comment of the fans of Linsay ,they said that this was only a jealous to Linsay famous career.But there are some prove that Linsay stole stuff  like a necklace from the Venice, Calif., jewelry store that she caught wearing in her photograph. In also a fellow model Lauren Hastings are also a victim of Linsay stealing.Many witness said that Linsay saw in Lauren’s room after she lost her clothes worth $10,000.Not only that he also stole a coat from the Chelsea,nightclub. Linsay steal not only items but also a money.In her many experience in stealing she finally send to jail because of stealing a fancy designer gold necklace from Venice, Ca. jewelry store Kamofie & Company and officially charge as a theft.According to Dr.Craig Freudenrich that “kleptomania occurs more on women than a men because when women who steal they tend to get psychiatric evaluations,while men send directly to prison”.For a reason Dr. Freudenrich is correct because of what Linsay Lohan story and also because in our community today the women are more protected rather than a man,like when a girl slap guy in the face people think that the guy do some that’s why he slap in the face,while when a guy do the same thing to her people think that he is harassing her.Definitely it was a gender bias but we don’t have nothing to do with this because it is our culture of our society today.

For another article guys I want you to look at it,the article entitled “DerrenBrown: 'Most magicians are kleptomaniacs’”.  By Sarah Rainey,from the site of telegraph.co.uk. This article is about Derren Brown a great magicians and a illusionist. He is very famous because of the very amazing stunt that he do make his audience impress.Being his very famous name today is the opposite of it when he is a kid.He is a “nerdy” and “uncool”.He said he use his magic “to counter his shyness in school” .And for being a uncool and nerdy person in school he develop duplicity came from being a bit loner.Duplicity define as” the ability to trick people” this thing helps him to impress people to become people and not nerd.Today he is a magicians who’s very famous that is banned in every casino in land because of the reason that he might read the card.Derren said that “it is quite common to a magicians to be tempted in that kind of thing”. In magicians it is very easy to steal items because of their ability to trick people.Their illusion makes the people think that nothing’s happened or making them give whatever the magicians wants.Derren doubted his religion as Christian because of being a homosexual.According to Bridget Webber that “kleptomania has been a mental disorder or a form of anti social behavior”. This explains why Derren Brown goes to the path of the magicians of his being discriminated and in fact it also affect his being a straight guy that he became homosexual.For me Bridget is correct because of what had happened to Derren,he is very famous but he himself cannot say that he is happy because actually he want to be a teacher .In his condition  his decision making decreased that’s why he chose the wrong path.Kleptomania is not only a psychological disorder but also a mental illness that according to science that  “when the the decrease in the fine structure of white matter (axons and dendrites) in the frontal lobe that affects the decision making of a person or individual” .Which means in every person who’s diagnose with this kind of illness are poor inn decision making.But what if they use it as an excuse to their crime is it really an excuse ?.The thing is this cannot be an excuse because what if the theft is not a kleptomaniac are only pretending just to make sure that he was not go to jail.

Blogpost 2: Characteristics of kleptomaniac

In the seminar that I attended a few hours later the speaker talks about drug addiction.When he started to talk many students are not quite listening to him including me,who is very busy talking with my seatmates.He talked lots of things, like the alcohol is also considered as a drugs,he also said that "anything that will make people addictive is considered as a dug". I am very surprise of what he said because before I think that drugs are only marijuana, shabu, and other stuff that makes people immortal something like that.After that I talk to my self , playing basketball with gambling is also a drug but how is this happened? and then to clarify he explain it to us,he said that the only reason why we call it as a drugs because it is a thing that change people behavior.In the seminar the speaker also talks about the reason why people take drugs.He said that other people use it as an pain killers to their problems with their  family,friends and girlfriend, others use it to relieve their stress and to become socialized or cool.Many people thinks that using this will help them to remove their problems but unfortunately it is the other way around because at the end the one who suffers a lot is you and your family.And for that matter I relate it to my topic.My topic also tackles about the misbehavior of kleptomaniacs.



In an article entitled,"Psychologist Says 'Kleptomania' Is A Bogus Diagnosis",from the site businessinsider.com, by Mandi Woodruff. In her article he wants to know why kleptomaniac steal because it's fun or they do it to revenge to express their bad feelings.According to Dr. Will Cupchik a psychologist that, "A person who steal because he is angry is not a kleptomaniac", The reason why he said that is because of the five characteristics of kleptomaniac.The strong desire that encourage them to steal things;The stuff that they steal is the things that they can actually afford;they steal because it makes them happy that's why they are doing it again and again;after stealing items they feel guilt and shame on what they did because they know that it is not right;and lastly,they steal not committed to express anger but to give happiness to them.However some study observe that people who's diagnose with this kind of disorder are suffering stress and the only way that relieves their stress is to steal.Usually when we are stress we are angry because of the problem or on what had happened to us.How can Mr. Cupchik said that kleptomaniac does not steal because they are angry?
I think he said that because base on the five characteristics of a kleptomaniac.For some thoughts that will also have a point, but for me kleptomaniac steal because of their bad feelings or emotions.

Another observation of a physician that kleptomania is also a genetics because most of his patients who are  diagnosed with kleptomania got it from their family or their relatives are alcoholic who suffered in stress.

Another disorder which shares similarities with kleptomania is hoarding.Hoarding is a disorder that also have to get object.This also may affect the person moral and his normal way of living because of buying  lots of things that he/she thinks that has a value but actually do not.After buying different stuff,like dress,shoes and then his or her money is not enough to buy things he will actually steal it just to make sure that he will get it.

Since they don't enough evidence to prove their observation,treatment are also too difficult for them to find.To find the right treatment for the kleptomaniacs other psychiatrist use a treatment for the drug addict.For some reason other people use dug to stop stealing and also to be sure that there is a right treatment  for them.


The next articles that I found entitled,"'Tis the season to be... stealing? How rise of kleptomania during the holidays affects party hosts as much as department stores",from the site of dailymail.co.uk,by Doree Lewak says that, "kleptomaniacs are more likely to indulge their habit during the holidays than at any other time", This is because people loves to give gift to their love once,especially this valentines day,they don't want to give a cheap gift to their love ones that's why others try to steal.Jealous is also a root why people try to steal things.The kleptomaniac also have a feeling of extreme stress that Santa don't want to give them a gift because of their bad attitudes or bad actions that leads makes to be discriminated by others.Others easily judge a person base on what they did with not knowing what is the reason why they are doing that.This kind of disorder also related on term called "sociopath" or "psychopath".Sociopath or Psychopath this is defined as an anti-social aggressive a highly impulsive person this because of the effect of the society that his "right" response as a wrong and "wrong" is the other way around that makes them unacceptable in the society.The reason why I connect this to kleptomaniac is about the word "frustration",this is about your expectation to your self to others and what people think about you.The sociopath is a kind of person that is not acceptable of the society because of their different kinds of action that makes them feel frustrated.This is why they develop an extreme stress that leads to steal item or to commit crimes.Fro some reason this is related on what Albert Einstein said that when there is an action there were always an opposite reaction that when the society cannot accept people like that,there are reaction that the people who is not accepted in the society would revenge.This is a contrast on what Cupchik said about the characteristics of kleptomaniacs.
